Finding Pharaoh: St Luke's children's Activity Week 2011
|
It's a high-point of the summer for around a hundred kids (and their parents!) each year when they get together in St Luke's Church and hall for four mornings of mayhem and making, listening and learning, fun and friendship, and finding out a bit about God and his son Jesus along the way.
They found all sorts of things, and people, and mummified some of them in loo roll and covered some of them in cake mixture (strangely this seems to happen every year). But also - and almost by accident - they discovered the story from the Bible of God's people in Egypt, many centuries ago, and how God looked after them in spite of the terrible mistakes that got them there and the bad things that happened to them. Thank you to the dozens of people who acted and cooked, helped and planned, cleared up and set up, and gave up many hours of their time to serve our community.

This year we met a crazy crew of archaeologists led by the hapless Indiana Bones as they bumbles about in Egypt, looking behind pyramids and under hieroglyphics for traces of the mysterious and ancient Pharaoh Nuff.
